The question asked on the new HI Study test here?

Tim

Please don’t think I am ridiculing you! I am only trying to supply solid advice and that advice comes from a higher authority! UL

To properly test GFCI receptacles in your home:

  • **Push the “Reset” button located on the GFCI receptacle, first to assure normal GFCI operation. **
  • **Plug a nightlight (with an “ON/OFF” switch) or other product (such as a lamp) into the GFCI receptacle and turn the product “ON.” **
  • **Push the “Test” button located on the GFCI receptacle. The nightlight or other product should go “OFF.” **
  • Push the “Reset” button, again. The light or other product should go “ON” again.

** **

Man sometimes I really wonder what bottle you are into now fella…I said you posted your “TEST” procedure already in your original statement…that is all…who the heck is argueing…except you…

I have been using this nite-lite

oh brian…how dare you SHOW that…you could be argued with now…shame on you…

Paul he said Night Light, did he not? I would have to read the UL specification on night lights in it’s interity before I would answer.:stuck_out_tongue:

Otherwise…

As Joe stated (and re-stated, and re-stated, and…) “To properly test GFCI receptacles in your home…”

The procedure certain is a proper way to test a GFCI receptacle. It does not state that this is the only proper way of testing GFCI receptacles. I would submit that answers #1 and #3 are correct.

For more information on GFCIs and how to test monthly, go to:

www.passandseymour.com

or to participate in an interactive GFCI demo on-line, go to

www.electrical-safety.org

In addition the follolwing NEC rule is specific:

110.3(B) Installation and Use. Listed or labeled equipment shall be installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling.

NECH: Manufacturers usually supply installation instructions with equipment for use by general contractors, erectors, electrical contractors, electrical inspectors, and others concerned with an installation. It is important to follow the listing or labeling installation instructions.

Now then the question has been removed from the test.
