Here is an easy one that I forgot and cant seem to put my finger on.

What is the generally acceptable moisture reading that an interior wall should not exceed?

My gut says it 7%-11% but I cant be certain.

Hi Peter,

this has to differ massively around the country dependent on local weather types and HVAC systems I would say that you are in generaly the right area, but whenever I use my moisture meter I first test areas that I know not to be moist, for example the side of a door post 4ft off the ground or the back of a piece of furniture (my personal favorite is the bottom of a stool) then all readings that I take are relative to that "baseline".

Hope this helps

regards

Gerry

Peter:

Any moisture level in a wall cavity in excess of 16 per cent is something to be concerned about as levels this high can contribute to mold growth.
