Hello! I hope all yall are having a good day! I found this weird thing I’ve never seen before at a store I visited today. When I arrived at the property I noticed there was this oil type sheen coming from some cracks in the parking lot. I was curious what was causing the oil sheen. Do you have any opinions? I was thinking maybe it was built over some kind of tank possibly. Or maybe it was even poured over asphalt and the oils from that material was seeping up through the cracks in the concrete. What do yall thing? Here’s some photos for reference. Thanks again to all yall. Hope you have a good one!
My guess would be more along the lines that it came from a hydraulic or oil leak.
What do you mean? Like an oil line? Or from a car? And maybe the oil is just now seeping up? I also was thinking cause there is a road above on a hill. All the oils n junk from the cars and the road itself could be soaking down under and up into the parking lot
A garbage truck could have had a hydraulic hose burst. Or if their normal truck is like my weekly service, they always seem to leave a couple of drops of oil when picking up my trash. A delivery truck could have had the same problems. One of their employees may have a car that is constantly dripping oil. A customer dropped a jug of cooking oil. Could be a HVAC company accidently dumped refrigeration oil when they were changing out a unit or compressor. Could be someone threw something in the trash, and it leaked out to the low spot. A grease bin may have overflowed.
What’s weird though is it’s coming out of multiple cracks throughout the parking lot. I feel like if it was drips or puddles here n there they would be from one spot. Not from the cracks themselves? That’s possible though. Especially the one spot near the trash can. There was a spot over there that had a different color sheen. Maybe that’d be the answer for that spot
