I see your point Tom, being from NJ you need a permit for just about everything. Hard to believe people can hook up gas lines without permits depending on “ qualified “ contractors. Maybe asking for a written warranty from the installing contractor may be a better choice of words in states where permits are not required. I just try to make sure my clients are covered concerning their house insurance in case of failure as we all know insurance companies never want to pay claims.
