Looks like poor man’s attempt at foundation vents. Drilling holes is cheaper than buying those 10 dollar foundation vents at the home center. Probably isn’t doing squat for venting the crawl. This looks like that faux brick siding being used for skirting around the house.

Excellent guess/idea Richard! That would make a lot more sense than ventilation holes wouldn’t it?

My first thought was it is for venting but then thereare too few a number of holes to do any good. There is a mention of a crawl space but I could not find it any where. Any ways thanks for all the cooments.

Looks like someone was drilling out the pattern to bust out a hole for a vent or something similar. javascript:emoticon(’

Then why drill the holes in the center? One would only need to drill the holes in the perimeter of the shape you are knocking out.

Was it close to a laundry room, kitchen, or bathroom?, my guess would be for a vent also.
