I understand you, BUT the garage arguement is not the best one. May I say a poor one? ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Ditto Bob and Mike P.

Things like that are what make contractors dislike inspectors.

Like I said, Jerry… Lets get back to the real world.

Ever inspect a raised ranch? The main panel is always, without exception, in one of two places: either in the downstairs bedroom, on the exterior wall, or in the garage, adjacent to the garage door, or perpindicular to it on the exterior wall (usually the front of the home).

Access is ALWAYS a consideration, in either room.

As I've said before, there is gray and shades of gray. You only see black and white. The electrical inspectors would have a field day with you up this way. They are the AHJ, not the lowly inspector.

But, once again, instead of providing guidance and common sense approach... you are spouting the truth according to Jerry Peck. The fact is that the NEC is interpreted and enforced differently in different parts of the country.

Not that Jerry cannot defend himself but read the posts.

We ALL read things into the posts that are not meant.

I spout the 'opinions' according to 'ME' all the time.

I do not recall anyone saying that XXX is an idiot or incompetent.

This is an open forum to DISCUSS things as Professionals. Am I correct?

Joe F.,

IT IS the real world.

IT IS being enforced in some areas.

IF YOU do not want to have it start being enforced in your area, do not call it to anyones attention.

I WANT it enforced in my area, so I am still working toward that goal.

I gave everyone plenty of chances to provide an exception, and there were no takers, because there is no exception for this.

From that e-mail:

Just the facts. Use them as you wish. Or don't use them at all, it is your choice.
