A/C lines entering through roof vent?

Hello, I recently inspected a townhouse with the A/C on a flat roof. The coolant line ran into a vent on the gable part of the roof. Has anyone seen this before? Is it correct? The vent was only used by the coolant lines and there was another vent for the plumbing. Also the line ran 3 stories down to the basement. I’m getting heat from the sellers agent and would like to know if I screwed up.

Thanks

Dennis,

I guess the best answer is: With the limited information given and not knowing how your addressed it (wrote it up), the answer is - could be okay, but might not be.

First, how did you write it up (what did your report state)?

Second, was there any kind of flashing or anything to keep water from blowing in through the hole through the gable vent, was there a drip loop outside the gable vent, were the lines run in between louvers, etc.?

Nothing really wrong with it if unit is charged correctly for long line set. Wonder why the unit wasnt put on the ground out side the building?? Oh well…
