A new use for lint.

Besides the fine use of dryer lint for packing, we also now have no cleanout for the sewer. Pity, as this area later turned into a small lake when the sewer and floor drain backed up after testing all the plumbing fixtures.

The ABS is from the kitchen sink and the washer standpipe. Assuming things were in better condition, is there any way of making this connection legally without cutting up the cast iron stack?

Dependent on the condition of the cast "Y". If it will properly accept a male adapter where the clean-out plug used to be located, yes it can be modified legally. Materials needed:

1 - male adapter. (4" if it fits, 6 to 4 adapter otherwise)
1 - length of pipe.
1 - 4"x1/1/2"x 4" tee.
1 - clean out plug.
1 - glue
1 - cleaner.

If it will not accept a male adapter than - Nope.

The best way to fix that would be to get a 6"x2" or 4"x2" SV Hub & Spigot reducer with gasket, manufactured by Tyler Pipe. Then a 2" or reducing 2"x1 1/2" No-Hub coupling to connect to the pvc.

Here is the link for Tyler Pipe

Good Luck

Mike,

The best way????

Does your set-up make provisions for a clean-out. Just curious.
