Hi all! Hoping someone can confirm a Slant-Fin boiler S/N for me (I’ve checked building-center.org, but they don’t have this updated version.) Also the units have township inspection stickers on the side signed in 2019 however, they wrote on the one “flue liner”, so it’s possible the liner was changed versus being a new unit instal inspection…with all that said, I am thinking its Oct 2019?
I’ll have to call them up tomorrow to confirm…wonder if it’s difficult to reach out to building-center if if get some good info from the company on how to decipher this “new” format?
Which is why I posted the info you needed… just in case.
Slant Fin Boilers use the Serial number in a sequential format, with NO system to breakout a code for age. You must call them for the Age.
There is no other method to determine age other than a WAG using the ANSI date as the earliest possible age (2014). Given the 2014 ANSI date, it could be anywhere between 2014 and 2023!
There are multiple threads on this MB that specifically tell you that you must calll Slant Fin for the age.
There is NO method to determine the age as they are sequential in format!
What is your concern about the age? The ANSI year tells you that it is well within its life expectancy. Sounds like you are making unnecessary work for yourself.
Unfortunately it ended up as a dead end. After getting bounced around, then given a different number to call slant fin “more direct” only to be told that their company doesn’t deal with the manufacturing on the boilers…? At this point, I said thank you and noted in the report that the actual DOM was unable to be confirmed, but that it is at least whatever the ANSI date was (I worded it properly, just can’t recall of the top of my head what the year was, lol.)
This one from today was installed in 1998. So we know it is between 1994 and 1998. I’m wondering if the first letter in the SN on these units represents the year of manufacture? Otherwise I don’t see anything else in the SN that would designate 94, 95, 96, 97, or 98.
