Ok Inspectors
When water comes out of a air gap in the kitchen does this mean there is
a foreign object obstructing the path of the air gap device. There are
two hook ups , one hose goes to the small pvc pipe and the other goes to
the disposal.[ 1 piece of pipe all together with two fittings] . now I was always told that if you see water coming from the air gap there is something
stuck and to take it apart and remove any items that are stuck . Anyway this
how mine is designed and I see water coming out , took it apart and saw nothing . Should i check both hoses and why is there two hoses attached to one air gap device? I am confused ......

If the lines are open it can be the design of the air gap device. The commonly used plastic ones will sometime bleed on some installations. This depends on the pump on the dish washer. I went to a plumbing supply house and checked them all until I found a design which would work. It was an air gap device made out of brass. They are getting harder to find.

Hey Richard , thanks for the picture , I understand it better but what is the reason it has a air gap between the two lines . Why don’t they just make it one line.
