Hey Everyone, I would like to introduce myself and try to get some help from the group on starting out here.
I’ve been an InterNachi member for several years now and completed my certification over a year ago. Until now, I have been working as a full time residential service electrician but I’m ready to take on inspecting full time. I’m also a former airline pilot and veteran, so I’ve been around the flag pole once or twice..
My specific questions are related to mentoring and ride-along inspections. I have checked the mentoring program her on the site and reached out to several mentors but they are quite a way away. I’m in Ventura county, just north of LA area. Is there anyone down here who would be interested in mentoring or letting me shadow?
Dave, you may want to contact some Mentors, CMIs or CPIs within 80 to 100 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Be discerning, as some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring and some are into it just for the $.
I’m on the edge of Ventura County in Castaic. I’ve been performing home inspections since 2008 and started my own business in 2014. I’m pretty much a one man show, but I do have an assistant that helps me out on inspections. I could help you out from time to time.
