I have not heard of any complaints yet in the DFW area with Brinks Home Security. They have been very responsive and good to work with here. I don’t take the $15 or really push the home warranty on the client. Here in Texas you must be licensed to perform and report an inspection of a security system. Brinks does that well and is another service we are able to offer the client. I always advise the prospective client that they are under no obligations to purchase anything from Brinks for the free security system inspection.
Hey Nick,
Jerry Salathiel from Brinks has moved from here to Philly for awhile to get the Philly and PA Brinks Home Security Home Inspection program started. He is a very good person to work with. His last contact info is:

Personally I don’t think we should be recommending any particular service unless we are prepared to offer at least three names.
Personally speaking I would not be inclined to offer any names of services unless asked by my client.

Raymond,
I agree with what you are saying in most cases, but, as Manny has mentioned, with the way TX law is written HI's can't inspect security systems.
Using this program, the client gets their system inspected, for free, rather than disclaimed as we would have to do in TX.
If the customer had to pay for the service then I would be a different tune, and at least 3 recommendations or none, would be my SOP.

Brinks left the Massachusetts area two years ago and never returned.
I met the Brinks rep. at the Orlando Convention last year, and he stated that Brinks was not getting a return on their investment in Massachusetts. They were paying Massachusetts inspectors $15.00 for every brochure that was distributed within our HI reports. I guess Alarm sales didn't exceed their marketing pay-out.
I would continue with Brinks if I had the opportunity.

I understand that their presentation leads to a sale almost always which means our clients want what they are selling (our clients aren't children being forced to buy something they don't want... they must want security monitoring services).

It appears to me to be a win-win-win IMHO.
For us here in Texas it is a win-win-win for all parties. Brinks also has a program here for homeowners without security systems that really is a good deal considering the cost of hardware, installation and monitoring.
