I think it depends on your location. Here where I live and work, even bankers don’t wear ties. Every inspector I know (and I know most of them) wears jeans; most wear logo shirts. Whatever is the prevailing ethic in your area is what seems appropriate to me. By the way, the suit and tie business in this area is horrible.

What about PJS’ and slippers?..with company logos of course.

If you work in a sleepy little town that may just work lol

Most of the time, I wear logo’d golf shirts with Khakis, and Asic gels.
If I know I’ll be alone, when I’m contacted by an out of state buyer, and the realtor is only coming to let me in, I’ll wear jeans and same type shirts.
I have several thin Tyvek suits that I use for crawls, and they do a nice job of protecting the good clothing.

After seeing what Linas wears, I started wearing something similiar. Cut-off blue jeans, with the pockets hanging out. A tied off t-shirt and boots. Of course the shirt has my logo on it.

My outfit is really cool in the summer. Walking roofs is tricky.

lol - or do you mean “your working *tricks *on the roof”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn Billy - Could have went the rest of my life without hearing that! :stuck_out_tongue:

I go with a pair of khaki cargo work pants (the pockets are convenient) and this year a navy blue pocket polo. (Used to use green). Usually work boots that have a bit of a show look. Though I carry both slippers for those no shoe houses and sneakers if I decide to climb on a roof.

It’s the image I want to project. Looks both professional but able to get a bit dirty if that’s what is needed.

IMO blue jeans just don’t say professional worthy of a professional wage. Not saying most folks would recognize this consciously but on a subconscious level I think it matters.

Damn, I guess I’d better go shopping…

Don’t for get the thong David for the long seductive lean overs to check the kitchen drain. Get the blue ones that just peak over the belt loop . Not too revealing but just a eye catcher lol.

Too funny!!!

I wear BIG BILL CARGO PANTS (Black) and Tan Flir custom (my company logo) long sleeve shirts (winter) and I will be wearing short sleeves when and if summer arrives!

And and we are waiting ! i know you have a thong tucked under that lol with a maple leaf

I’ve never worn jeans to an inspection although I don’t think anyone would say anything if you did. On the other hand just because they don’t say anything about your jeans does not mean you area leaving as good an impression as you could.

I wear an embroidered button down shirt, embroidered cap, clean, and pressed, khakis, and clean shoes. The khakis will wear out faster than jeans but you can pick them up for around 20 bucks so no big deal there.

Save the jeans for the attic and/or crawl.

If Alan Jackson can wear holes in his jeans at the CMA Awards, I didn’t think he’d mind mine (without the holes) when I inspected his house!

I have never, nor have I ever considered wearing anything else!
Oh well!

I get all kinds of comments on my safari vest with all my electrical test equipment sticking out all over, but nobody’s ever said anything about my blue jeans!

Clean shoes!
You must have clean shoes!
I have received many comments about wearing slippers inside the house as it is greatly appreciated that you keep the dirt outside.

I don’t wear jeans so I can get them dirty, I have overalls and a wetsuit for those unmentionable places.

I would never show up to a subsequent inspection with dirty clothes (or saturated with sweat). Bring a changed with you!

I like to wear khakis to home inspections, the shirt is embroidered with company logo. I do were jeans on occasion though. I think it is more important that the whole look go together. Well branded, truck clean and neat(at least on the outside). Cloths must not be: worn, dirty, wrinkled, old or not fit properly. A belt should always be worn, clean shaven, clean shoes and neat hair cut. The branding should go from your truck, to your shirt, to your business card and to the report. The best one of all is smile, smile when you meet your clients and smile when you answer the phone!
