With some limitations. My vehicle, 2014 Dodge C/V, has 8 foot of cargo capacity . Is there a ladder that will fit the space, but is also capable of giving me enough length to access a 2nd story roof? I don’t really want to add a ladder rack to the vehicle.
This is not mine, but this is what the cargo area looks like.

It’s heavy, but this would fit. I owned one for few years, but I have never used it for inspections. I have a 28’ extenton ladder I carry on to top of my truck I use for that.
If my Kia Soul fits a 24 foot multi ladder I doubt you will have a problem.
So do you also show other peoples kids and say they are not yours but this is what they look like ?
Compacts to 9 foot. I don’t think that would fit in an 8 foot space.
I just don’t have a picture of mine. Does your Kia really have soul?
I said multi ladder .
Get the werner which is 5.5 feet.
I also use the 17 foot which fits even better and is about 4.5 feet.
Look up multi ladder at Home Depot and Menards.
Just purchased the 17 foot model for $99 which was on sale last week.
Usually $159
For crying out loud get a blanket…LOL scratches ]
Just wondering what the distance from the back door to the console is, looks to be a lot more than 8’.
I use the 22 foot werner and I love it, but not for a two story at full extension. You have to stretch the ladder out on the ground then lift it in place, which may not be possible if space is tight. The 22 footer is quite heavy, the 26 footer will be even heavier.
I ended up getting a regular extension ladder just for the new style 2 story which most of the new houses around here are, foundation is about 3’+ above grade plus two stories. You should have about 3 rungs above the eaves for safety.
I can use google earth to scope out the house to see if I need to bring it. I use removable racks, which I mostly leave off unless I need the ladder.
Eric I never do it on the ground.
You must have short arms…
The warner adjustable ladders are great, but definitely not light. I have a 22’ model.
Yep hurts the back after a while. The 17 foot is sooooo much lighter it is almost fun in comparison.
Got Vulcan brand which actually has a better rachet system though close to the same.
I use 2 ladders, the Little Giant 22 footer, and the extend and climb 17 footer.
The best ladder is the one in the back of the truck on the way home.
I use a 3x8 ft for 2 levels
A 15.5 ft xtend n climb telescopic for single level
A 6ft fiberglass husky step ladder for whatever I can…
I installed the center console in mine. So that space is no longer open.
I also drive a Dodge Grand CV and I carry a 6 foot step ladder, LG M22 - which is 17 feet fully extended (still not big enough to reach 2 stories) and I do have a ladder rack for the extension ladder to reach 2 story roofs.
I believe my LG M 22 is 5’ 8’’ when stored and there is still room for 1 more ft in my van - I can double check if you like. I think there is enough room for LG M 26 to fit in the back but it weights 50 lbs and it will be a little harder to make into an extension ladder because of the weight. Also, M 26 is barely big enough to reach the eaves of a 2 story home - definitely not big enough to safely step on the roof and actually walk.
In my opinion, to reach the 2 story roofs, an extension ladder is a better option.
What kind of ladder rack did you use? I might just have to do that and get an extension ladder.
I have this one with only 1 hockey stick and with the locking mechanism.
P.S This is a google image - not my van.
extend and climb 12.5 foot ladder the only one I use fully collapsible.
13" in the van, 17’ on the rack, both multi-fold. The 28’ Little Giant Sumostance is also on the rack. Get the best ladder possible and make sure you can reach where you need to. We get work just because we can get on the the roof.
I use all type 1 fiberglass ladders. an 8’ extension to 16’ should fit nicely. I dont trust the extendo magic ones much. I have one but a faulty button could end your career. I dont use it on inspections. Fiberglass is ligh weight and will last a very very long time
