Best thermal moisture meter for tile floor and showers

Hi

New to the forum. I would like to buy my brother who is an inspector in Texas the best thermal moisture meter for tile showers and floors. He has been using the Protimeter Moisture Meter Reachmaster but needs something with thermal imaging for the tiles.

What are your suggestions?

Thank you
David

You are a good brother.

He has a great moisture meter.
Thermal imaging is best left stand alone.
Buy a thermal camera. He will be using both anyway.

He’s got a decent moisture meter. He needs a thermal camera.

The problem with thermal cameras is that the sky is the limit as far as cost and specifications. If he’s just doing regular home inspections, he there are a few under 1k that don’t break the bank.

I use a HikMicro Pocket 2. For what I do with it, it’s enough. It’s got decent specs and at 256x192 the resolution is one of them. I have found water issues with it and use it to image the electric panel to help identify any breaker issues. The battery life is great and the screen and sensor resolution is a step up over the competing $600 Flir( C3-X 128x96) or $700(C5 160×120) products. The Pocket 2 costs about $550.

Do your research. It ain’t about the camera, but the experience and knowledge of the inspector!

Thermal imaging will not help show moisture in tiled areas. All he needs for that is a good moisture meter, (like the one he has)
Technically speaking, thermal doesnt show moisture at all.
