These pipes are to be made of cast iron or black steel. The pipes on the home I inspected look just like galvanized pipes. If they are galvanized then the insurance would require that they be replaced.
How do I tell what they are made of. They are not black. There are old disconnected galvanized water supply pipes beside them and they sure look alike.
Your post is a little unclear.
The photo shows galvanized pipe (disconnected) and ABS DWV.
It appears to be cast iron DWV in the top left of the photo, barely visible.
Dom.
Tim,
The smaller pipes are iron pipes used for the expansion tank on the Hydronic heating. They appear to be disconnected.
The larger pipes are ABS. These lead to the septic system and provide part of the drainage.
This is a heritage home.
