Okay, I’d like to hear how some of you would report this icon_exclaim.gif

What do you recommend

(I swear I did not alter or modify this photo in any way.)

Due to the slope of the driveway, well, you don't need a garage
anyway.

What state is this property in?

How about…The driveway was inspected and found to be nonfunctional icon_question.gif

I can't believe the AHJ let them get away with that

Flood zone I presume?

I've seen these where the streets are used for flood control, but they usually make the transition a bit less cumbersome.

There are actually several other considerations to take in besides the lack of access to the garage from the street.

If these houses a sitting on "fill," their foundations may be very unstable. If the street level was cut away, you may have the same problem.

Besides the obvious note that the garage is now useless for anything other than storage, you may want to recommend checking the following;

Permit review for the hard-scape, signed by the local authority.
Soil compaction reports
Cut and fill records
Flood zoning/past flood activity

I think this needs a 36" railing across the front of the garage door.

Unbelievable!

That builder defies common sense. I’d sure note who the builder was so that I wouldn’t accidentally use him for something

They must have poured the concrete with about a 2inch slump to keep it all from being in a pile at the bottom.

Has anyone actually tried to drive a vehicle up those driveways?

If they don't hit the sidewalk and get stuck, they will likely get hung up on the 'hump' when they try to make it into the garage.

I also hope that is NOT in an area where it gets any ice, snow or rain (Arizona might fit that?, although it looks like Georgia red clay).

I agree (seriously) that exiting the garage is unsafe, standing on the driveway is unsafe, getting in or out of a vehicle on the driveway is unsafe, and (maybe most importantly) the sidewalk below is unsafe as once you get started out of the garage, there is no stopping you until you are at the bottom, with the pedestrian laying squashed under the vehicle.

I'm serious.

And that's just what flashed through my mind before I had to look away - that is just so ridiculous. Measure the slope (rise / run, percent, or degree) of those driveways, I'll bet there are many vehicles which will not make it up them.

Carla,

Someone sent me this photo via email. I don't know where this is at.
I has kinda hoping by posting it here someone might see it and tell us
how this was allowed to happen and what the final resolution was. ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

I saw this photo about a year ago and many believed it was some sort of trick photography.

I’m not convinced it’s a fake Erol. Usually, if you enlarge a photo like this and look closely at the pixels in the area where it would have been stretched, you can tell if it’s been modified. This one looks legit to me, as hard as that is to believe. icon_lol.gif

Jerry -

Who is Mike P.?

Just thought it was silly to recycle it as if new since this was shown and discussed here on this web forum several months ago.

Geez Dan, don’t have a hissie.

I joined the board in December 2003, and I try to view all the posts here that time permits me to, and I have never seen it here before.

If someone s#!t in your Wheaties this morning, I'm sorry. And if you don't know who Mike Parks is (at 600 posts), I contend you aren't on here that much yourself!

Just my opinion. ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

Apparently either I didn’t say it plain enough or you misunderstood what you read.

As others mentioned, this was posted, discussed and laughed at 4 months to a year ago on this forum. I printed and saved a picture of it and several others that went with it.

Nobodies throwing a hizzie (if I ever do you will not wonder at all if thats what I'm doing). It was a simple statement. It just seems silly to throw it out all over again. Thats All.
