My question is should the support post be 1 continuous wood length not 2? Are the roof joint wide enough or should they be 6 inches wide?

This looks like typical modular home framing.
It appears that framing members have seperated. Recommend …
Those trusses are hinged. The reason is they are too large for normal truck transport. They are un-folded on site and the part you’re questioning is then nailed on site. That member is under compression and would be fine if it was assembled properly.
It seems to me that there would be ample room to have had full-length (uncut) king posts in the transport position and, structurally, that would be ten times stronger that posts cut in the middle. Yes, the posts will primarily be in compression. But, there is always some amount of lateral force that can develop and posts split in the middle held there only with nails would be prone to buckle (fail). I would recommend that a structural engineer (specialist) evaluate and would not be surprised if he or she recommended those posts be replaced with uncut versions.
Tell it to the engineers.
There is nothing wrong with the framing. The set up crew was lazy and didn’t properly attach the uprights together. They are typically secured by sistering 2x’s at the cut, 2 feet in each direction.
thank you everyone
More likely a gusset plate or 2x4 sistered to the joint for a more permanent fix.
