Bumps / blisters on flooring

Condo / 1974 build 1000 sq ft, 2 levels. I noticed these bumps/blisters on the flooring when I first open the front door so I took a picture thinking it was a defect. Then I noticed it was everywhere, 1st and 2nd floor, and my second instinct was that it was an intentional feature. I couldn’t imagine why it would be intentional though. I’ve looked online and can’t find any flooring that’s purposely blistered like this so now I’m back to believing it’s a defect, but these bumps appear to be manufactured to me, not a defect bump. I did find examples of flooring that was blistering but it didn’t look this flooring. I’m so confused

Have any of you seen this and determined if it’s a defect or an intentionally manufactured product? A couple pictures are a little far away but you can still see what I’m talking about.

That is a WTF of the day  I have never seen this. Perhaps a manufacturer defect?

I would agree, I can’t imagine that that would be a designed product. Imagine walking barefoot on that floor!

Yeah, I’m leaning towards that as well

Why would you even install that after seeing the condition??

The million dollar question I’m asking myself is: was it like that prior to installation or did it happen after installation?

I’m going with anti-skid flooring, pretty sure it cost extra for that option.

How thin was the material? Was it a thin vinyl plank, or sheet vinyl?
Appears to me that maybe they didnt sweep the floor first, and you are seeing all the debris pushing through.

…but not thin enough for debris to push through. It didn’t look like debris pushing through anyway.

I found another post late last night that looked like the same issue as mine. They mentioned that it was LVP installed a year ago on slab. Mine was on slab as well. Maybe a moisture issue? IDK

I looked up a few posts yesterday as well, because I thought this was pretty interesting. Saw quite a few pics on Google with similar bumps. Some said debris, but I don’t think so, unless that debris happens to be a bunch of BBs’ in all these similar instances. Some of the posts said manufacture defect, and one had a confirmation from the manufacturer that it was their defect. That’s what I’m going with.

Thanks for letting me know about that manufacturer confirmation :+1:

You take moisture readings?
You see the substrate? Moisture-related problems in concrete substrates?

Moisture damage or improper installation.
