My son said he was going to build a shed on a 15 acre off the grid property with an existing small camp on it. He said he had watched YouTube, and it looked easy.
So, he tells me, dad can you tell me how much material I need? I said OK.
So, I end up helping him load up all the material on a U-Haul and bring that 45 miles to his site.
Thanks dad he said, I’ll build the platform. He said he was aching all over once done and asked if I could go over to help.
I get there the next day and measure the diagonals and he was 7" out of square and the four foot and eight-foot increment was way off.
I had to move a few of his supports to correct it.
So, as of yesterday we have a little more trim to do and finish the door. Now I am the one aching and need a day off. Working off ladders is killing me. LOL
My sons’ hours while on vacation to build a shed.
Jeff, a shed that size sells for over $6,000 locally and built as cheaply as possible. I looked at them. We bought all the material so far for a hair over $2000. Plus, we are 2 miles off the grid.
I’m thinking Jeff might have meant buying a shed kit similar to what they sell at my local Menards. They are actually a very good deal in many cases. Everything comes cut and ready to assemble. No need to figure out a material list, and construction instructions are typically included.
My dad was a carpenter. I now cherish the projects we did together. Good on you, Marcel. You are making some lasting memories. I hope that shed brings joy to multiple generations.
