This mess is centered in Ontario as OAHI is only in ONTARIO.
Unfortunately it tends to spill over into the other provinces.
As for Alberta, it is more like Texas then any other province because of the influence of the oil industry.
Legislation for HI;s and other Technologists etc. is not going to happen for a long time.
I would like to think you are correct but I would say do not relax Bill Mullen and his OAHI/CAHPI friends are doing their best to take over The Canadian Inspection industry next year.
I would say do not become complaincent as they are doing a lot of work behind the scenes and expect to try and get it started this fall .

OAHI is the largest member of CAHPI, it carries much weight because of financial support from OAHI and membership numbers. So OAHI is the hinge pin. There are many in OAHI who have no use for OAHI and vice versa. Many OAHI members have jumped ship from OAHI supporting the National because of the politics in OAHI. The problem is the fact OAHI has been able to hi-jack the agenda and that is in fact who is running CAHPI. Its not healthy and anything goes including allowing members to make threats. So much for Conduct Unbecoming a Member!

So unfortunate they have a great group of Home Inspectors and many just can not even be bothered with OAHI any more . They just pay their dues say nothing for fear of retaliation from the Old Guard who make most of the decisions . They also Have an elected BOD who listen to the past Pres council and do as they are told . .
If only the membership would have some say they could soon turn this into a good association again . But fear rules .

Maybe they have been intimidated by CAPHI.
Unfortunately I can not do anything in ON and the responce from the other members in this prov is next to zero.

I keep wondering what happens with your oahi elections and what the on gov regulations say about the operation of associations?

Because its a private members bill which created OAHI there is very little one can actually do. Once the government passes a private members bill the government doesn’t want anything to do with it. One has to take the association to court in order to exact change within. Short of having a Special Meeting called by a percentage of the membership, its anything goes because the membership is timid, intimidated, apathetic, and ignorant.
No one has seen the financial statements or minutes of meetings, which allows decisions and actions to be made without any knowledge or credibility. I believe most actions and changes to do with OAHI in regards to CAHPI have been done via straw poll votes, or at the BOD level without changes to the by-laws.
A full forensic audit of OAHI is in order including voting ballots, and proxies. If there is nothing to hide there would be no reservations whatsoever and the cost would be minimal.
Anyone joining the National as I have stated many times before should be very concerned about being subject to OAHI’s brand of justice and accountability. There is much infighting and politics involved within.
