Because this is a gas appliance, not a “real” chimney, it follows the 8 foot rule (10 and 2 for a chimney).


Depending on the slope of the roof, it is required to extend from 1' to 8' vertical.

A roof pitched at 8/12 to 9/12 would require an extension of 2'. Anything less than 6/12 requires only 1'.

Where can I find this 8' rule....I have only reference material that states even with gas appliance flue pipes must follow the 10' rule.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
