Coils/fins damaged but HVAC rep said its ok

Not the best pics… Never saw the lines go through the coils like this but the rep said its normal and ok. Just wondering your opinions?

I would say it is designed like that. Looks like the refrigerant is coming off the main line in four locations and returning in four locations. My guess is that this is done for effecency. I never really paid much attention to this before.

Normal, that design occurs and is used because it has a smaller footprint (the compressor is inside the coil area with the fan motor). For some installations this is desirable.
