condensation

I was at an inspection yesterday and I noticed that there was a lot of condensation at the air handler in the home. So much so that it was dripping from the suction and refrigerant lines onto the closet floor where it was located. I noted to have a A/C professional further evaluate the problem, but I would like to know what could possibly be causing this problem. The A/C tested well as far as temperature. What do you think?

Possibly a leaking condensate tray over the heat exchanger. It could have rusted or the condensate tube is clogged.

Got a Pic?

If the insulation on the suction line does not extend to the coil, it will condense water and drop into the furnace.

Also, where the lineset enters the cased coil is a common site for supply air leakage. This will condense water on anything it blows on.

Also, Also if foil tape is used to seal this opening, the tape will conduct heat and sweat also.

There can be other things, but need to see a PIC first.

It seems that sometimes the humidity is soooo high that condensation is inevitable.

Make sure the drain pan is ok and the condensate lines are flowing, if they are not call for an HVAC tech.

The humidity should not be high in the indoor closet if the unit is working correctly.

Other possibilities are:

Plugged condensate drain line, Poorly connected drain line to tray or loose altogether. Bad slope on the line or even non- glued joints together..
