Can someone help me identify the manufacturer for this unit?
HVAC
ICP/Tempstar/Heil.
Thank you!
Thanks Larry
I get International Comfort Products Air Conditioner. I am leaning towards HEIL.
It is 37 years old. Way past the typical/usual/normal life expectancy.
No disconnect.
No cable retainer bushing for the armored cable in/on the enclosure.
Bent/Twisted/Damaged heat fins can significantly reduce efficiency thus leading to higher energy cost while effecting comfort levels.
Thank you Robert
My pleasure.
Best of luck with your endeavors.
Robert
PS: The image I posted, the condenser/compressor cabinet, is from a 1989 HEIL. Looks very similar to the model you posted.
Don’t forget conflict of condenser air clearance.
Morning, David. Hope to find you well.
Been too long hearing from you, at least for me.
You feel there is a clearance issue? Looks about ><18" to the wall.
It does not appear the condenser cabinet has vibrations move the cabinmate in any one direction.
As for the doorway…Hmm Where/are there doorway clearance codes almost 40 years ago or today?
What say you.
I’m pleased to know I reported most of what you identified- except the bushing- -there was an HVAC contractor scheduled to service the system- it was too cold for testing in the day of inspection, Thanks again
I thank you so much for sharing this part of your inspection with the members!
You’re The Best!
It solidifies how the InterNACHI message board helps members overcome common issues they have all faced with moving forward to complete a part within their report, and do so in a timely manner, and effectively.
Never be in a rush.
As well, I applaud your sense of passion you have in general, buy sharing, as well as for your client that deserves a proper response to their trust in you and your company.
Kind regards.
Robert
This is the photograph I’m responding to. It appears to me that there are two condensing units side by side here? As for the 18-in clearance, if there are two units side by side you need more space between them.
I was looking at this on my phone, I’m on a computer now. Maybe this is just a window well…
Hi, David. A pleasure as always.
I see, yo are referring to the HEIL AC cabinet I posted. I should have known. My fault. Sorry.
That appears to be an exterior window well means of egress for a basement. The neighbor has a very similar window well means of egress setup only the grate does not appear to be sufficiently sturdy in my opinion.
Either or…
Hard to see if this one is compliant, but I concur, very poor AC condenser cabinet clearance. I would write it up if I ran into that scenario.
The corrugated window well and top grate look wide and deep enough. I see not locking device on the grate.
I was thinking the window well was another condensing unit initially. My bad. Couldn’t see in my phone but it shows up on the computer.
No worries, David.
When it comes to using my mobile phone screen to see or use the InterNACHI message board, lucky if I can make out an image let alone the written posts. Lol…
Is there logical rear door clearance/compliance for HVAC condenser cabinets?
Yes. It should be in the install manual.
Generally it’s about the same as an outdoor service panel.
