Why spend $50 for a low headroom kit for a garage door when you can do this?

There is another option… they just shorten the door opener rail and so the door only goes up 2/3 of the way. In this case the duct work was in the way.
There are several wall mount type openers that would have sufficed. That’s just not any FUN though.
The $50 is just part of the $4550 that will be needed to pay for a new beam and installation. Ever replaced a beam like that one? It’s fun. You get to knock holes in the sides of buildings and swing it on in! They’re heavy too… you have to be really strong… like me
Or…, it’s really not as much fun, but you could have a repair designed and bolt on some steel splints/plates or maybe an I beam. Not as much fun though.
The look on someone’s face when they find out how much it’s going to cost for the “weekend warrior door opener install” that went sooo perfect, except for that stupid piece of wood in the way… PRICELESS.
I don’t know why anyone would install a track type for any reason. The wall mount’s are really cool.
I’ve talked to several installers that end up having to replace wall mounts such as Wayne dalten because they don’t last. It is a cool setup though
