Delta..... Keep climbing

On February 17, 2025, Delta Connection Flight 4819 crashed upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, flipping upside down and catching fire. At least 18 people were injured, but there were no fatalities, and the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

Any landing you walk away from is a good one.
Chalk up another win on the long list of the extraordinary first month for Trump 2.0-47.
Under Trump, unskilled pilots lands plane upside-down!

No doubt speed was a factor. I watched the video several times and it looked to me like the right wheel strut collapsed causing the sparks and flame from the tail and the right wing to break off after which the plane rolled over. With a plane that heavy I would think getting both wheel struts on the ground at the same time was critical for weight distribution. Come down hard on one it could fold or snap off.

Here, here.

Structural degradation. Likely weakened oleo strut on right landing gear. The right wing collapsed at the fuselage causing the plane to rotate 180 degrees. (I edited the post)

No deaths! No sustained fire.
That is my take anyway,

Stop this diversity, equity, and inclusion nonsense. It means mixing individuals already capable of preforming a function with smarter skilled diverse individuals surrounding them. That way they bring an out of the box expertise, like Elon Musk, Kinda, to the table.

Robert, you may want to watch the video of the crash again.

Thanks David. You are correct. The Right wing and landing gear collapsed briefly cough fire as the plane rotated and landed upside down.
Thank you for pointing that out to me.
Regards.

I think if DEI works, then it should work everywhere. Time to wake up professional sports.

If it works, then no one should be offended if labeled a DEI hire.

If a plane lands hard enough it will break any gear. Landing on one gear first is always going to happen in a crosswind and shouldn’t cause it to fail. Depending on the plane you’ll either have a wing down into the wind to stay straight or you’ll crab the plane in with the rutter (flying sideways basically) and straighten in the last second. Having too low of speed and not flaring will cause a hard impact resulting in significant damage. Given the conditions, my money is on an overwhelmed and inexperienced pilot that had “get-there-itis” and forgot a few steps in the landing procedures.

Plus, the more experienced pilot-in-command should have anticipated that the landing was going to be challenging and should have been at the controls. He or she made the first error in judgement. For some unknown reason, the co-pilot never flared-out the plane for a gentile landing.
