In the Jan. 6 hearings, witnesses were asked to agree with the following — “Do you swear under the penalty of perjury that the testimony you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” It’s serious business that can be enforced with years of jail time if they were to break the oath.
If you think that the select committee’s hearings were fabricated optics, then you’re buying into the same lies and propaganda that those trying to split our country apart are pushing.

Specifically about Babbitt. I watched the video and listened to the testimony, and, in my opinion, the hearing was orchestrated to reach one conclusion. This is not the first or last time exculpatory evidence has been dismissed or not used, and predetermined findings have been presented to the public. (such as the Sidnick cause of death). There was no real investigation and no subsequent prosecution, as one might find in other shootings. I am sure you will disagree, but the video tells most of the story. I hope he no longer carries a gun in public service.

There were multiple investigations, that ALL came to the same conclusion, that Ashley Babbitt was in the building illegally, as part of an insurrection, that violently breached the Capitol building and was shot while pushing through a barricaded door while lawmakers were being evacuated.
Prosecutors would have to prove not only that the officer used force that was constitutionally unreasonable, but that the officer did so “willfully,” which the Supreme Court has interpreted to mean that the officer acted with a bad purpose to disregard the law. As this requirement has been interpreted by the courts, evidence that an officer acted out of fear, mistake, panic, misperception, negligence, or even poor judgment cannot establish the high level of intent required under Section 242.

Here’s the effing video for all to watch. It clearly shows the window to the chamber being broke out and Ashli Babbitt trying to go through it and then getting shot.
I don’t have them anymore. At one point, there were several unedited videos. I specifically recall one from the other side of the door, in which you could see all three officers in the hallway, one of which appears to be just strolling around. I watched as the shooter hopped out from cover (that’s when you hear gun, gun, gun) in an apparent panic and shot her.
There were police on the stairs with the group. Luckily, they did not get shot by friendly fire. Rescue personnel were within moments of her. The area was not saturated with people.
Shot by whom? Police and security are supposed to stand down. This isn’t a looting of private property. It’s an expression of First Amendment rights in the proper venue (where government is). We not only have a right to protest government, we have the right to overthrow it. Any government opposition to the protestors should have been prosecuted.
She was shot by a capital police officer. She was trespassing and disobeying direct orders from the police to stand down, she didn’t and continued to breach an area she was told by police not to.
This was not a protest, it was a riot, an insurrection, and a failed coup, all perpetrated by Trump.
The death of Ashli Babbitt is on Trumps hands and IMO he should be tried for all those who lost their life because of what happened on January 6th.
Nobody has the right to overthrow the government, not in a democracy, that’s why we have elections, that’s what gives the people the power to remove and replace elected officials.
The rioters were breaking numerous laws including destroying government property, and the law still isn’t finished seeking them all out yet.
