Doing an inspection on a house where the bathroom door was only 5’ 10".
My question is how would you report this. Major concern, non-standard construction, just a verbal comment or a Safety problem as the bump on my head might show.
I was out there yesterday for a water sample and will be going back Saturday with the client for the actual inspection.

Hi Bill,
it sure as heck would not meet current standards, but in this area I see many250 - 300 year old homes with some very funny components, I would mention it in the report, but dependent on the property that is about all.

Just out of curiosity, if the door was that short, what was the ceiling height?
As Gerry said, I have done many old, old homes that had low doors, low ceilings, and a lot of different construction which was fine then, but ain't now.

About a year ago I did an inspection on a custom home that had been built for little people. Doors were 5’, ceilings at 5?’, countertops low, doorknobs low, windows low, etc. I’m 6’4", so stooping during the whole inspection was, shall we say, unusual, but I did enjoy a nice hot bath for the sore back when I got home. My Clients were buying the property for the land and were going to scrape the house. I simply reported everything as “non-standard” height, installation, etc., and let it go at that.
