Drain for ice maker

I see a looped drain for an icemaker. Is this an issue?

Looks like a dishwaher drain line.

What does the manufacturer say about it?

Ice maker or dishwasher?

I’ve never seen a drain like that for an ice maker.

It’s for an ice maker

It’s clearly the drain line for the dishwasher. The excess drain line is wrong and it needs a “high loop”.

Commercial style icemakers have a very similar drain tube as a dishwasher. It’s an icemaker drain.

Then I stand corrected.

Evening, Richard. Hope to find you well and in good spirits.

I do not feel it is the right type of drain dispersal termination for a commercial ice maker. Typically a air space is required.
Here is what easyice has to say about The Many Types of Ice Machine Drain Setups

Was there water in the loop?
Looking at the clear flexible loop drain it is stained. If there is back siphoning that debris can be carried back to the cabinet basin causing cross contamination.

Refer to the manufactures recommendations.

Interesting. It must have a remote drain pump, I’m guessing similar to a DW pump.

It looks like it’s an improper installation at the termination, according to this video it should terminate into an open drain.

Thanks Kevin, that video is super helpful! It in fact was a Kitchenaid ice maker like the one shown.

It’s got a high loop, and a low loop, and another high loop, low, high.
What’s your problem?
Three times as compliant!
