Drip Leg in a Gas Line

Is the configuration of the drip/ sediment leg incorrect? Should it not be the gas that has to take a 90 and not the sediment/ debris? If it is incorrect, can someone point me to the correct code for my own knowledge and to have backing for a report? Thanks in advance.

No code needed. It is install wrong. Have qualified professional correct as needed. No shut off valve visible either.

So incorrect. Got it. Code reference? The gas shut-off is there if you look really close near the floor. It’s a bad angle. Thanks for the help.

Here is another graphic that is more useful in explaining the correct orientation of a sediment trap. raypak_heater_gaz_line_sediment_trap

Thank you.

And change your terminology … it is commonly known as a “sediment trap” … not a ‘drip leg’.

Drip legs would typically be located on the main gas line into the meter.

They are not located at appliances.
