Robert, You're not the only one. I wonder about some emails I get ![icon_confused.gif](upload://qv5zppiN69qCk2Y6JzaFYhrff8S.gif)
One of my tasks in a past life was man power allocation and usage. One area where many valuable man-hours were being wasted was during research. I found that on several projects several staff, around the country were all researching the same subject. Each on the direction of management, but completely separate. I was found that one person doing a little advance research was much more cost effective than several, all doing the same research. This was more evident when the initial research showed thee was no need to continue.
Here we have an email that listed a web site that does not exist and an email that is not being responded to. By your statement I'm not the only one that has invested time into researching this.
Thought for consideration. Prior to posting, possibly have a NACHI staff member contact the potential supporter and verify;
Time in business
Copy of business license
Certifications
Listing with BBB
Reference letters
Area served
Contact info, including, name, email, phone, web site and mailing address
Discount if offered
Requirements
etc
This type of initial research would be of great benefit to NACHI members and insure that potential scamers would stand a better chance of being identified before being turned loose on the membership.
Having a single person research may use 4 man(person) hours. Having 20 members all research at 4 hours each related to 80 man hours. All to get to the same point.

I agree that nearly all the vendors are worth having.
There should be a better way to weed out the problem ones. Granted one will slip through from time to time. But, a process should be implimented to weed out the obvious problems before exposing them to members.
Failure to do so is knowingly exposing members to potential risk.
I have seen a issue and presented a valid course to take. No negativity or accusations.
Can and Will NACHI impliment a prescreening process for vendors?

No. We are not anymore qualified to do such investigations than individual members… our staff is probably less qualified. We rely on actual inspectors in the industry to alert us to anything that appears to be an outright fraud. With the exception of PHIC and Nation’s Hazard, we really never see many scams against the industry though. Most vendors who are getting complaints about their products or services also get compliments, much of it is subjective.

Nick,
Thanks for the reply. I agree that staff most likley lack the ability to completly screen vendors. Although I would have hoped, the gathering some simple info could have been implimented before publishing it as an implied benefit to members.
So members should not consider any vendor posted by you as a reliable source due to the fact that neither you or a NACHI staff person has verified any info relating to the vendors service, reliability or basic business existance.
