Very often while writing my summary I refer to the Norman Becker Home Inspection book. What are some of the reference texts you use?

Hi to all,

I agree with the 2 named publications, but a little more of the beaten track in "A safe haven" by Todd Schultze, which is the best thing out there covering enviromental hazards related to property.

Regards

Gerry

How often do you refer to the IRC?

Rarely, as my jurisdiction follows the UBC.

I use the Code Check guides as a reference almost daily.

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for the tip on the Schultze book. I ordered one from Amazon used "missing DJ, otherwise immaculate". $8.37 shipped - wadda deal.

Besides those already mentioned, I use “Wiring a House” and “Plumbing a House” from the For Pros by Pros series published by Taunton Press for report text occasionally.

I also find good non-technical material on the web (using internet sources works only if you're confident about the source, or are sufficiently expert to evaluate the correctness of the material).

My favorite so far is Principles of Home Inspection-Systems and Standards by Dearborn Press. Very informative with good illustrations. Very large book, 882 pages.
