OJ,
I will make a lesson on PhotoScape later. I have to leave for an inspection right now. Check back here later.
I guess John is not going to take a stab at the emissivity discussion so we’ll let that one lay.
There are some hidden things in PhotoScape.
I assume you’re trying to make a fusion photograph?
Thanks Linas!! Hopefully I can do something snazzy like everyone here.
I don’t know how many of you have seen these videos made by the European FLIR group but thought I would share. www.utterprecision.com/irvideo.html The i5 is sold as a FLIR product over there. I like the end of the T/B-Series video. Shows how things have changed. Back when I took my Level 2 in Boston was right after FLIR/Agema/Inframetrics merged and they still gave tours around the plant. Back then they still built everything by hand. Progress is possible when you think out of the box.
No experience necessary it says in the I5 video. I am kind of surprised they threw that in there. If you read a lot in to that I5 video you can do just about any application and get great resolution pics. I do prefer the color of the euro i5.
And that would be the difference between marketing and real life application. It is good entertainment though. Makes me wanna rush out and do lots with the i5 and then I am reminded of the limitations. How’s that for a spot size for ya.
Funny thing is though a Power Company bought some for their line crew for after they repair things. Of course they also own a bigger camera and just wanted to reduce the mis-crimped and mis-tightened connections.
It is better than an IR gun though when used within its parameters.
IR Camera was adjusted for background and Emissivity. IR Gun has emissivity fixed at .95 and no background temp available. Analysis results IR gun conclusion no problem. IR camera (and when I got closer it was actually 92) suspect but needs load checked.
That powerline pic is actually not that bad. 80x80 eh. They sell skins for those things like an iphone or something. Euro one is blue/grey. The ones I have seen are orange/black and that one in your picture is green. If I recall right, I think I saw a purple/black one on a competitors site.
Maybe my IR skin company is just around the corner
