Kevin,
You might want to edit your first post! Only the part that says “I am not looking for a debate and I am not going to post on this thread at all”
Now that’s going to be a long post. But I’ll give you a few to start with.
“Irrational militant faith is back on the march.”
“Our government wants to restrict our freedom to criticize religion.”
“Religious faith discourages independent thought, it’s divisive and it’s dangerous.”
“…the assault on the senses appeals to us not to think, not to doubt, not to probe…”
“Science is a discipline of investigation and constructive doubt questing the evidence, logic and reason to draw conclusions.” “Faith by stark contrast, demands a positive suspension of critical faculties.”
“…so a scientist is constantly asking questions, being skeptical…” “…religion is about turning untested belief into unshakable truth through the power of institutions and the passage of time…”
You specifically asked what I was referring to when I said that there are truths in the video. The quotes that I wrote are truths. I happen to agree with what he has said. Pretty simple right?
OK I’ll add another… The fundamentalist traditions of any religion stifle free thought and the free flow of life. The so-called faith is nihilistic to the point where the practitioner is required to put off some aspect of life today for the promise of something in the future, like a mansion in heaven or eternity with 70-virgins. The religion all fundamentalist practice is the the religion of death, because only after death can the promise be delivered, what a terrible waste of life & creativity some religions can be.
