For those that are interested....

Is that your belief?

Can you prove it?

Kevin,
You might want to edit your first post! Only the part that says “I am not looking for a debate and I am not going to post on this thread at all”:stuck_out_tongue:

Oh well, I guess I’m just too weak when it comes to this MB and having fun. Here we go!

Is what my belief?

I know…what can I say. It’s just too much fun!

Your own words.

Now that’s going to be a long post. But I’ll give you a few to start with.

  1. “Irrational militant faith is back on the march.”
  2. “Our government wants to restrict our freedom to criticize religion.”
  3. “Religious faith discourages independent thought, it’s divisive and it’s dangerous.”
  4. “…the assault on the senses appeals to us not to think, not to doubt, not to probe…”
  5. “Science is a discipline of investigation and constructive doubt questing the evidence, logic and reason to draw conclusions.” “Faith by stark contrast, demands a positive suspension of critical faculties.”
  6. “…so a scientist is constantly asking questions, being skeptical…” “…religion is about turning untested belief into unshakable truth through the power of institutions and the passage of time…”

Are you quoting Dawkins as YOUR belief and the one in who YOU place YOUR trust?

You specifically asked what I was referring to when I said that there are truths in the video. The quotes that I wrote are truths. I happen to agree with what he has said. Pretty simple right?

Now that we’ve cleared that up, do you agree that those quotes are truthful?

OK I’ll add another… The fundamentalist traditions of any religion stifle free thought and the free flow of life. The so-called faith is nihilistic to the point where the practitioner is required to put off some aspect of life today for the promise of something in the future, like a mansion in heaven or eternity with 70-virgins. The religion all fundamentalist practice is the the religion of death, because only after death can the promise be delivered, what a terrible waste of life & creativity some religions can be.

I was going to get to more but thanks for the input Joe.:mrgreen: This could get fun!

Seems to me that you are accepting Dawkins “truths” by faith.

What leads you to put so much faith in what Dawkins says?

Nope, no faith involved on this one. These statements are backed up by pure reality and evidence.

I’m running out to take my daughter to a Halloween party. I’ll be back…

Bull**** and you know it, what aspect of faith is involved here… The faith that there is no god when no proof of god exists, piss off!

Kevin is displaying faith in the statements of a man he doesn’t know and in an area of expertise he has not demonstrated any competency IMHO

Dawkins is no philosopher he just plays one on the college circuit.

He is a biologist.

Dueling friggin’ websites…

God is Imaginary

Now who are you gonna believe?

Isn’t that at 2 way street Mike?

Gerry

Nope
