I agree that they at least try to, but they have little to no control over the price of crude to the price at the pump.
For sure. OPEC can openly discuss and agree to adjust their production to affect oil prices. US producers of course can’t do that legally, but they also have recently been throttling their own production in order to keep prices profitable for themselves. This wasn’t always the case. They over-produced in the past (relative to demand) and it caused many to go out of business or endure difficult economic times.
Gas prices were tumbling at the end of Obama’s term and actually were on the rise during Trump’s term, until Covid hit. The reason prices were tumbling at the end of Obama’s term was because of the US shale boom and OPEC’s refusal to cut their production in response. They decided to keep production steady, with the hope US producers would lose the price war and ramp down production.
“The economy stupid”
You should probably re-read that article. It actually debunks everything your saying about oil prices. You just need to read between the lines.
He went back to Butler (my home town) and started off by saying “Now where were we…” LOL
That was an epic rally, from the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance to the flyovers/ parachute drops to the Lee Greenwood live introduction to the tributes to Cory (man murdered on July 13) to the HUGE crowd spontaneously breaking out in the National Anthem during a medical emergency break, to Elon and other speakers, to the opera singer extended closing.
He was were he always was, back to doing what he does best, telling lies.
It’s sad that Trump has to exploit national disasters, our dead military men & women, and anything else he can, for nothing more than a political lies.
Other reports rebuke the largest newspapers. So, rely on your legacy media if you choose to enjoy the narrative de jour. Many of these newspapers have very little resources to even be on the ground in the area much less be objective.
Sad that some folks are still subjected to the lies and propaganda of the lamestream media.
They can say what they want. Disaster is ALWAYS a political football. Bush was politically destroyed. Biden and Mayorkas will receive protection for their feeble response from the legacy media. The people of NC posting their truths will eventually make it to some HBO mini-series long after this administration is gone.
Present
“Trump’s claims are as hypocritical as they are harmful. Let’s be clear: Western North Carolina is not a political football. This is not a campaign opportunity. The most unhelpful thing any politician—or anyone else—can do right now is spread misinformation and tell people that their government isn’t doing anything to help them,” the joint editorial board wrote. “Sowing the seeds of political division is always an unnecessary and tiresome endeavor. But doing so in times of great need, when unity is paramount, is particularly shameful.”
Past
Bush declined to visit the devastated area right away. White House aides said at the time that Bush didn’t want to cause disruptions in rescue and recovery efforts by diverting security and communications to himself. But Bush allies privately conceded that he could have quickly visited somewhere along the Gulf Coast with minimal disruption, perhaps a staging site, to show solidarity with victims of the hurricane and the first responders.
Present
Biden said his team will not leave those impacted “until the job is done.” The President has not visited the areas yet because it would be "disruptive if I did right now." His remarks came ahead of former President Donald Trump’s Monday visit to a furniture store in Georgia that was destroyed by the storm.
