Good afternoon everyone.
Does anyone have a narrative they use for this issue? The door jam is separating from the wall.
Thanks much!
Good afternoon everyone.

Didn’t you just create your own narrative right there?
Your narrative is written in your “topic”
Rule #1 K.I.S.S.
Thanks! Maybe the better question is: Who should I recommend look at this; garage contractor or someone else?
I think you answered it again. Garage door contractor or qualified contract would do.
Thank you again. Have a good day!
You as well John. This may be helpful because I understand where you are coming from.
We give direction to our clients as a helpful service. Some components or systems it is very clear, such as HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical.
But, on occasion, just a qualified contractor is simple enough. Look at the defect, what has happened? The board is pulling away due to lack of fasteners or warping or both. It needs to be reattached or replaced. Who can do this job? A qualified contractor or a garage door contractor.
For me, rather than box myself in on something like this, I would just say qualified contractor and let the client find the “qualified person”.
That’s great feedback. You’re right though, it’s easy to box yourself in sometimes; especially after spending the morning writing
I call it “getting brain tied” kind of like tongue tied. Take a break for 20 minutes. Play with the dog or walk down the street. Walking does the best for me. Clears out my mind. Also, most of my defects are written in my head during the inspection and on the road back to the office where I actually write.
Good word. I’m gonna do that now. He’s been laying here waiting patiently. Time flies and also stands still when I get into these things. 8500 sq ft house yesterday.
I hope you charged accordingly
That is not a jamb.
Possible narrative:
“The garage door mounting board/casing, for the opener, is separating from the wall…etc., etc.”
Isn’t that a 2x6 buck?
Help me out here.
I feel good about it
Thanks Larry!
Framers put the jamb in but didn’t put any nails in the top because they were too lazy to get a ladder The garage door installers installed the door and over time it has pulled away from the wall…They might be able to pull it back into place with some long screws…A garage door company could be called to do this or a handyman. If the screws won’t pull it back in then the door may need to be untensioned and retensioned after it’s repaired. I think most people would just try to pull it in as much as possible with some screws and then call it a day…
