I just came from an attic that has type b vent type for the water heater and furnace and there is half maybe three quarters of an inch clearance between the vent pipe and gas line. This was approved by the county but that means nothing. I can’t find anything about clearances like this. Does anybody know anything?
I know that your photo is crappola and explains nothing to me.
The steel gas pipe is not a combustible material. Gas pipe is installed on gas valves in furnaces only inches away from an open flame. Poor planning on the installers part.

Good point on inside the furnace. I knew the gas line is not combustible however I also realized that the content is flammable. That’s what got me going and wanted further verification
