Looking for comments about the gas line entering the furnace enclosure. Recently ran into one with a yellow CSST run to the gas valve from the steel drop line. Have had differing opinions from HVAC tech, plumber, and another inspector. Even heard that it can be different in Kelowna than in West Kelowna what city plumbing inspectors will accept.
2422.1.2.3 in the second photo. (Noticed later the photos I took don’t accurately show if there is any grommet protection where it passes through the furnace wall)
Is this something that should be researched with city officials in places we’re working? Any feedback would be appreciated.
I would default to the installation manual for the furnace. I have seen some that allow it, and some that don’t. Forget trying to figure out what the AHJ allows.
A couple of things. First, that is not CSST. That is a flex connector which has a very different use. Flex connector’s sole purpose is to connect the appliance to the gas line. CSST can go anywhere a hard pipe gas line can go with the exception of through an appliance cabinet wall unless it is protected from the edges of the opening.
Semirigid tubing and listed connectors shall be permitted to extend through an opening in an appliance housing, cabinet or casing where the tubing or connector is protected against damage.

G2422.1.2 (411.1.3) Connector installation. Appliance
fuel connectors shall be installed in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions and Sections G2422.1.2.1
through G2422.1.2.4.
My primary concern would be, “is it safe?” No twists, kinks or abrasions.
