All services in the US will be grounded. Whether this ground is brought to the individual device boxes is an open question. If iyt was FHA or a “GI Bill” house federal regs said it was supposed to use a grounded wiring method and grounded boxes but it may still have 2 prong outlets.
If the feds didn’t actually inspect the house YMMV. My early 50s home did have the paper Romex with downsized ground but that was inside the (not yet built) beltway.
You still should have grounding at the stove, dryer and bonding to the plumbing which will be metal … until a homeowner adds some plastic.

I think Jane and Tony are one in the same. Not only are their unique IDs the same but if you look at their posts they both usually fill the post subject line of each individual post. I haven’t seen anyone else do that.

Really , some of you guys have got to find better things to do with your
time than avoid a question you may not be able to answer …sooooo
for those who want to…
I believe the subject was Grounds.........
Don't all residental homes have to be grounded ?
This picture of this 1949 home had grounded bathroom and garage
only and it had 100amp at the service panel but it did not have a
#8 gauge ground wire to to a buss at the panel .
My understanding is that before 1960 , it only had to be
grounded to the panel to rod or
water pipe. It was after that year they started running grounds from
outles to panel buss bar.Just wondering because of the age of the house
if this would be called out . Does this make sense? Talk to ya all
Monday I am taking a little vacation to see some friends in Modesto,Ca
which is really strange because one of them lives down the street from
the infamous Scott Peterson home.

The service needs to be grounded somewhere, no matter how old the house is. The grounding electrode conductor could be in the meter base. It can be anywhere on the neutral from the from the load side of the service point to the service disconnect. Usually that is either in the meter base or the service disconnect enclosure.
