This image shows a connection I haven't run into before. At the left, the grey line is the discharge hose from the washing machine. This line discharges into the top of the upright pipe (top not visible in picture) then through what appears to be a trap, then directly into the sewer line. My question is: would you consider this a possible cross-connection? I'm not sure if this is an anti-syphon device or not or if this means of discharge is ok. Any thoughts?

First, does this stuff really block access to that panel in the background, or is it just look that way?
The washer hose typically drains into the top of the standpipe (that vertical pipe) with space around it (must not be sealed to the standpipe).
That "trap" is another matter. It is not like anything I have seen and does not conform to the requirements of any trap trap I am aware of. Anyone else seen anything like this before?
Then, was this connected in where a vent stack should have been?
Back to electrical, that looks like the cord and plug from the clothes washer, plugged into a two wire adapter, into a two wire ungrounded plug.

It just looks like its blocking the panel but there is actually room for access.
The standpipe is not sealed. The washer drain pipe is hooked as normal and inserts into the top.
The plumbing does have a vent stack elsewhere so I don’t think this is a vent stack elbow.
You’re right about the electrical outlet. It is ungrounded and already in my report.
That trap or whatever it is is my main concern. It would seem to me that sewage could potentially back-up into the washer and then into the water connections but I’m not sure.
