Interesting picture. How high is the top of that standpipe? While it probably works, it seems like pumping water as high as that appears to be, would be a little hard on the washer pump.

Where did that trap come from? icon_confused.gif It appears it’s plastic, but resembles the old “can” type found in the old lead lines. Is it homemade? Smacks of Joe Homeowner plumbing from what I see in the pic.

As for backsiphoning, if the washer line is just dropped into the standpipe from the top, it’s the same as any washer drain line, except too high. If it’s the way I “think” you’re describing it, it still has an air gap. And the washer itself would prevent backsiphoning into water supply. So don’t see that as an issue.

What did you say about clearance to that electric panel behind this messy plumbing job? Doesn't look like 3X3X6' clearance in front of panel from here. And what happens if it does back up and overflow? Can it run down over that panel, and non-gfci receptacle attached to it?

I’ve never seen a drum type trap in pvc before??

Tell them to have it evaluated by a plumber.

Tom…

Besides your prices; listing them with every post is not going to win you many friends here. Seems like member privilege abuse to me.

Thanks guys for the help. Whatever the heck that plumbing arrangement is, we’re all in agreement that its not quite right. I’ll recommend a plumber evaluate the plumbing.

Wow...those ARE low prices!
