Hello everybody, my name is Stanley. A hopeful inspector prospect from the Southeast Michigan area. I recently purchase AHIT’s self-paced course (was that a mistake? lol) and have been pouring through it taking extensive notes.
I currently do small field inspections, occupancy checks and the like for several companies in my area but really want to expand into a more rewarding and profitable part of this career like full bore residential home and commercial inspections, mold and radon testing, etc.
I was hoping to maybe interact and link up with some more seasoned veterans in my area for knowledge, guidance and possibly some ride alongs?
Welcome Stanley, and it’s nice to meet you too. Our resident “Greeter” @lkage will likely post and share some good advice with regarding hooking up with other inspectors.
I took the AHIT online course and got their certification before I found interNACHI. AHIT is a good base course but interNACHI’s is way more advanced and detailed. Don’t regret doing the AHIT course because it will help you through the CPI courses offered here. Good luck with your studies and there of plenty of seasoned inspectors here willing to help you with some questions. There are also some here that will offer their “tough love”, but most of the time it can be viewed as constructive criticism.
Stanley, you may want to contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.
Welcome to the InterNACHI MB Stanley. I’m not sure about AHIT but I can tell you the information on this MB will be one of the best tools you can have in your inspection toolbox.
