I see this stuff all the time, but the name escapes me...it's a composition panel siding. I think there may even be a class action suit about it.

I think it’s Masonite stucco composition siding, but need verification.

I’ve seen it too, but the only name that comes to mind (in light of your pic) is…crap.

Because Masonite is a brand name, I only refer to it as “hardboard” siding.

Another brand name is Abitibi. They made a panel that simulates stucco(in appearance only) that was used for a while around here in half timber style houses.

Michael, Thanks for the link. I think I found it. It appears to be ABTCo siding by Louisiana Pacific Stucco Panel siding.
Hard to tell on all these claim sites when they don’t provide a picture of the siding.

Installed this product over 35 years ago, and glad it dose not exist anymore.
I thought off hand that it was Masonite, but could have been Abbitibi.
Logically, it appears it did not perform.

Two things caused damage. One was lack of gutters and siding less than 8" from the soil, and the other was from condensation from wall mounted A/C units.

Kevin;
I search all over hell to find information on this product, because I remember installing some of it in the 70's. They must be hiding the archives for a reason right?
I came close under CertainTeed Prodoucts but not a cigar.
Sorry for the no help on this subject.
