...but now I am wondering if it could be a bit alarmist in nature.

Any quick help would be appreciated as I am attempting to send this report to the client this evening.

Thanks all!

Tough call Brian. Based on what you didn’t see inside and what little you do see in the pictures then I would lean towards describing the bow and your thoughts that it’s from original construction and probably leave it at that. CYA, but I don’t think I’d recommend further action based on what I see.

It may be due to loosening of the nails holding the wall sheathing (if there is any) to the framing.

If no cracks or water stains were seen on the interior wall surfaces, I would just note it for them to monitor over time.

Just a hunch but it could be rafters pushing out, is there a ridge sag?

Nope, no roof sag.

I basically just wrote it up and included several photographs and followed it up today with the client. He is fine with the verbage and the report as it stands.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it!

Hi Gerry, long time no hear from.

No opitical illusion. I pass by this barn at least once a week and have for the last 14 years. Still standing. A testament to the builder.

Sorry Raymond, my father did not build that one.

The one he built in 1940, is still standing and looks a lot better than this one.

I would provide you a picture but it is about 247 miles away, in my home town.
