I intended this post to be an example of hidden dangers of k&t wiring but it quickly became more about my competence as a home inspector.
This place has turned into a social media venue for out of work home inspectors with nothing else to do.

Knob and tube is still around. Needs proper air circulation to cool them old wires!
I can’t count how many times I’ve been told the whole house was rewired only to find active K/T in the attic (and probably in the walls too).
Same here. They don’t rewire the ceiling lights, and then the new homeowner buries it with insulation.
The knob & tube is lying on NM wiring. How do you know that you are not detecting voltage from it?
Interesting
Not at all. It will detect voltage of the touching or close to touching NM when using a non-contact voltage tester. Its no different than people testing the dead front with one and thinking that it is energized.
I don’t remember off hand but I don’t think you can induce a voltage with perpendicular conductors.
I do not see the knob or tube insulators.
