How about opening the garage door when the remote starter is activated?? Well, I guess the remote starter would not know if it is outside or inside the garage, would it?? Answered my own question I guess. ha. ha.

Does not have to be metal clad - read the codes. Can be solid core wood if thick enough. If the door is paneled - the groves in the panel may be less than the required depth even if the rest of the door is thick enough.
Like several have said - the IRC does not require the self closing part while UBC does.
