Possibly a stupid question, but how come the home energy reports are for US inspectors only? It seems the program has interesting potential, just wondering if it somehow conflicts with government’s energuide ratings or something?
The reason is that InterNACHI developed the reporting software which grabs data live from a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory to generate the report. Canada doesn’t have this.
The DOE has talked with Canada and offered their data to them but they aren’t ready at this time. The reports that HIP and InterNACHI create are actually generated and certified by the DOE. They won’t certify properties in Canada.
Stupid Canada! Thanks for the info guys, maybe someday we’ll move forward and get with the times you here.
