Home Inspectors and Mold

It would be more like this Bill: There was damage observed in various areas of the exterior fascia which may have been caused by some type of insect infestation, possibly termites. Call pest control company bla bla bla…

There was a black furry substance present on several walls near and around the air handler and the master bedroom closet. As the family cat has been located, there is the possibility that this is mold and a mold specialist should be called…bla bla… bla…

Could that be a toxic black cat?

Could be…at least…there is something toxic in the litter box!

Im thinkin about training my Doberman to sniff out mold, is that still legal?

Meanwhile, the cats are on vacation until further notice…

Maybe I could get Boomer to do the whole damn inspection and I could just go surfing.

What ever happened to the guy that had his dog NACHI certified a few years ago?

It never was true.

I say I am you and get you certified too, get it?

That scumbag was ASHI member Jeff Barnes who legitimately joined InterNACHI, then changed his profile name to his dog’s name (I.T. no longer permits this to happen). His dog didn’t actually complete any courses, quizzes or exams. ASHI scumbag Jeff Barnes did them.

Jeff then got himself on the licensing board in Kansas and issued himself the only home inspector license #1 in Kansas. He then delayed (for months) the issuing any of his competitors their licenses, while he used his “only licensed inspector in Kansas” line as a competitive advantage.

A local investigative reporter wrote several articles about how scumbag ASHI member Jeff Barnes used his appointed position for personal financial gain.

He still brags that he holds license #1… which he issued to himself.

ASHI never expelled Jeff Barnes and to this day, scumbag Barnes is an ASHI member.

Really?, just a little fun to start the week. Nick you have provided a great service to alot of people, although I don’t always agree with you on some things, I appreciate what you do now and in the past.

Everyone have a good week, it’s after 7, time to hit the road.

So Nick, how do you really feel about this guy Barnes? LOL

Has their been any further clarification on who can conduct Mold inspections in Florida? What specific training and licenses do they need? The last post was way back in 2011. Any updates?

I have a question I’m home inspector and I have taken the mold course but I do not do any testing… I do an inspection on a house and I see signs of mold growth how would I report then in my inspection report

I have a question I’m home inspector and I have taken the mold course but I do not do any testing… I do an inspection on a house and I see signs of mold or mildew growth what should I say in a narrative ?

Depends on the State where you live.

There was apparent mold suspected in the specified area and would recommend a licensed certified Mold specialist to further access the situation. Just took the mold certification. I am not a CPI yet so apologies if im overstepping. Just to add I would encourage to take a look at IAC2 SOP you can find it in Internachi mold cert course.
