How should Home Inspectors advertise their company

I was referring to a ‘Business Model / Plan’… NOT a ‘Dream Board’ scenario!

Well hell… SOMEBODY needs to look at them to make sure they are actually inserted into the paper!!

Yep. That’s what I figured as well.

In my area. Comes out every Wednesday and cost 75 cents and mostly sold in the local gas stations/stores. I love living in a small town and wouldn’t trade it for anywhere else…

Yet I bet you can’t explain how it’s over rated.

My town still has one. They went mostly online a few years ago, but printed version you can get with a paid subscription. We do get a free downsized version in the mail every other month though.

When I first started, I joined the town’s Chamber of Commerce. They didn’t even have a section in their business directory for home inspectors at the time, so they created one for me. The local paper saw the new listing, being a member themselves, and one of their younger reporters called me to ask for an interview. She wrote a half page article on me and my business which actually landed me quite a few jobs. I was taken by surprise at how many people actually read the article and hired me because of it.

And don’t forget your local Chamber of Commerce. They can help with getting your name/business out there. Provide additional web presence through their website AND (what we’ve found anyway) this is an excellent way to get in front of new members/realtors. The Chamber in your area may have an “Ambassador” program you can be a part of which will allow you to be more visible in the community and again, get you in front of potential clients.
Good luck and holler if you have any other questions!

I think you got confused my dad is a GC and my mom a realtor my mentor is a home inspector and he’s the one who I’m saying gets most of his inspections from literaly realtors that call him and ask when he’s available sometimes is the costumer that calls but same thing

LMAO ik ik got a little ahead of myself

Not much substitution for face time. Getting in front of agents is key. In person on in their display. Whatever media they’re looking at is where they’ll find us.

I get most of my inspections from Realtors. I also get them from insurance agents and roofers. The issue for me at least, was just meeting them did nothing. Getting to know them did everything. I got to know them other ways, such as business meetings, the Chamber of commerce groups, etc. For me at least, it’s all networking.

Getting to know end users by doing repairs, also got me to meet realtors. Realtors are always looking for repair folks. Once the realtor know they can rely on you for repairs, they start calling for inspections. Once you’ve done it enough, you’re their only call and they tell their associates. Even if you only do one thing “I repair screens” or fix drywall holes, or whatever. You get on their radar and it turns into business.

I would be happy to never do another toilet ring, but that toilet ring will probably get me $10000 in inspections so cleaning up waxy poop pays off eventually.

Okay, thanks.

Maybe this question will help.

When your mom, a realtor type, needs an inspector for one of her homes she’s involved with, how does she relate to your “mentor” inspector?

Well they are just friends and whenever my mom has a deal she either calls my mentor or she tells the buyer to call my mentor that’s their only relationship

So, she doesn’t give a list of 2 or 3 inspectors?

If true that she doesn’t, that seems to indicate that a trusting relationship has developed between them where your mom (realtor) has confidence your mentor inspector will do a good enough inspection where she won’t regret not having offered 2 or 3 inspector names for clients to pick from.

That’s what YOU will have to do…develop relationships.

Hi, @kperezoses.

I recommend InterNACHI’s free online Home Inspection Business and Marketing Course offered by the only home inspector college www.internachi.edu.

Chapter 5 has a business plan for inspectors. Chapters 13 and 14 are my favorite. They are about branding and marketing.

The goal of the course is to teach the student how to start, build, operate, market, and grow a successful home inspection business. It includes updated business processes and marketing strategies that successful inspection companies are currently implementing.
